Faces first, from a library you already have
Traditional family trees are lists of names and dates. PDR starts somewhere warmer: the People Manager groups the faces that appear across your photos using clustering that runs entirely on your PC. Once your people are named, they become the nodes of a family tree you can actually recognize.
A focus-person model
Rather than trying to draw one giant, tangled diagram, PDR builds the tree around a focus person. You pick who sits at the center, and the tree expands outward through the relationships connected to them. This keeps large families readable and lets you tell one person’s story at a time.

Real relationships, never guesses
This is the important part. PDR does not invent connections or infer who is related to whom. Every link in the tree is a relationship you set — parent, child, sibling, partner — so the result is accurate family history rather than an algorithm’s best guess. There is no DNA matching and no cloud lookup involved.
Private by design
Everything about the tree — the faces, the names, the relationships — stays on your machine. Nothing is uploaded, which matters a great deal when the subject is your own family. This is the same on-device approach described in privacy and network activity.
Build from a reliable timeline
A tree is easier to build when your library is tidy and correctly dated, so photos of the same person across the decades line up in order. Start by fixing wrong dates and organizing your library, then explore the builder.

Does PDR guess who is related to whom?
No. Every relationship in the tree is one you set yourself — parent, child, sibling or partner. There is no inference, DNA matching or cloud lookup.
Where does the face grouping happen?
Entirely on your PC. The People Manager clusters faces on-device, and no biometric data is uploaded or shared.
Can I export the finished tree?
Yes. Export it as a PNG image or a print-ready PDF to frame, gift or add to a family album.
What if the same person appears at very different ages?
Naming a person once links every photo of them, and a correctly dated library helps those photos line up in order across the years.
